International All-Star Quad - Red HOT!

E-mail Print PDF

They started from humble beginnings early in Semester one but today the girls of the international quad finally snapped on the mighty Griffith University Zooty.

"I go faster in red." said Steph Golling an Exercise Science student who hails from Cologne, Germany.

The girls didn't know one end of a sculling oar from the other when first turning up at the Bundall Road head quarters but under the guidance of GURC Head Coach Gordon Cameron they have come on in leaps an bounds.

"Gordo has been a great motivator and coach. He makes every session fun," the token Aussie Lucy Ashby said.

The girls are just 4 of 16 girls who have joined the GURC in 2010. When asked about her time on the river Canadian Meg Dobie replied:

"Its been nice to learn something new and special while in Australia, and get ripped."

Without question the loud mouth of the crew is the Irish bonnie lass Lauren Eastwood. Known domestically as keen-bean back in the UK for her insatiable desire to get on the river, her enthusiasm has only grown down under.

"Some mornings are so beautiful on the river that I think I'll come back and row in Surfers forever."

When asked whats next for the international all-star quad Gordon hinted at big things.

"Big things." said Gordon.

He then went on to say "We have some races coming up in sememster 2 that the whole club will attend, the girls will go great."
